Ozriceillahan on tämmönen sivujuonne ku The Ullulators, jonka pääjehu on kitaristi Gavin Griffiths. Hän oli Ozriceissa ihan perustajajäseniä, mutta lähti perustaan omaa bändiään aika pian, kerkes kuitenki päätyä joillekki Ozric-äänitteille, ainaski sille ihan ekalle kasetille vissiin ja saatto olla jossain muuallakin. Noh The Ullulatorsissa on soittanut muitakin Ozric-hemmoja kuten esim. Joie Hinton.

Ne on julkassu pääosin kasetteja 80-luvun puolivälistä alkaen. 1989 ilmesty ihan oikea LP Flaming Khaos, jonka julkasi Dave Andersonin Demi Monde. Tästä levystä on julkastu epävirallinen cd Second Harvest -lafkan toimesta 2008 ja sitä on vieläkin saatavilla, itelleni just semosen hommasin.

Nämä oli vissiin pitkään hiljasuudesa, mutta viisi vuotta sitten tuli uus cd Dark Nights In Paradise, jota kai vielä sais bandcampista, vois ehkä tilailla täsä joskus. Siinä näyttäs soittavan Hintonin lisäksi esim. Ozriceista tutut John Egan, Paul Hankin ja Nick Van Gelder.

Bandcampissa näillä on paljon muutakin kamaa, esim. joitain niitä kassujulkasuja on laitettu tonne.

kuusi ensimmäistä omakustannetta vuosilta 1985-89 julaistaan kattavana cd-boksina!

Ei taida olla kovin tarpeellinen, mutta kuitenkin saatan sortua hankkimaan.

Ozric Tentacles will release a new two-disc reissue of last year's Space For The Earth album

"Over the last, quiet year and a half we've been in the studio making various noises, some of which you may have heard in the form of the release Space For The Earth, and also a few live streams from our Blue Bubble space hub," explains Ozrics mainman Ed Wynne.

"This latest release is taken from one of the live improvisations we did... edited, enhanced and added to, creating an entirely new, multicoloured, rather unusual half hour musical journey for you to explore..."

Released in 2020, Space For The Earth is now repackaged alongside a bonus disc featuring 30-minutes of new music spread across six parts.  The new 2CD edition of this album is available in limited quantities via Kscope on September 24.

ED WYNNE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM WITH GRE VANDERLOO FROM GRACEROOMS

Since 1983 the Ozric Tentacles have woven psychedelic audio-tapestries that capture the almost dangerous musical diversity of the free festival scene, blending acid rock with dub, reggae, ethnic world music and electronic, jazzy experimentation.

Ed Wynne, founding member and leader of the outfit, now presents a new project. A long term admirer and friend of Gre Vanderloo, better known from his project Gracerooms, the two have now teamed up to record Tumbling Through The Floativerse.

“I’ve always enjoyed the synth orientated musical worlds he creates with his project ‘Gracerooms’” says Ed of his new collaborator. “Shortly before lockdown 2020, whilst making the early stages of the recent Ozrics album Space for the Earth, we decided to try and make some tunes together. Gre came over from Holland where he lives, to the Blue Bubble Studio here in Fife and we started recording pretty much straight away. We ended up with about six definite starting points, which then developed and unfolded into a harmonic realm we referred to as ‘The Floativerse’… A place where you might escape gravity for a moment”.

Featuring guest appearances from Gracerooms bassist, Paul Klaessen and longterm Ozrics synth player Silas Neptune, the entire album was recorded at Ozrics head quarters; Blue Bubble Studios, engineered and produced by Ed Wynne and mastered by Adam Goodlet. Mind-bending artwork comes courtesy of Valerie Fangman.

On muuten harvinaisen hyviä nuo Ed Wynnen parin vuoden takaiset remasterit. Yleissaundi on kirkkaampi ja erottelevampi, ja bassotaajuudet kuulostaa paremmalta kuin niillä vanhoilla cd:llä.

You’re remastering a lot of the back catalogue. Was it a weird feeling revisiting those albums?
Extraordinary. It wasn’t what I expected. I expected to be thinking, “I’ll go anywhere that needs tarting up and I’ll EQ or top it or whatever” but when I put it on and started listening it was like opening a photograph album. Each song was a moment in time, a week’s worth of time. I’d put them on and suddenly I could remember the situation of sitting in the studio, what was on the walls and what was going on at the time, who was around. It’s really like a little diary for me, these tunes. It’s extraordinary. I hear a little blip in the corner of the music and I remember, "Oh yeah, that was when someone came and switched the light on at the wrong moment.”

What has the feedback been like?
People seem to like them. I’m really happy about that. It’s my first foray into the remastering world and people really do seem to have noticed that I’ve done something because often I imagine people remastering doesn’t make that much difference. I’m happy people notice. I spend a couple or three days on each one to get it right.

Olikohan Sliding Gliding Worlds noista kassuista paras, ainakin sillä oli Kick Muck ja pari muutakin klassikkoa muistaakseni.

'Lotus Unfolding' is the new release from UK-based instrumental intergalactic travellers Ozric Tentacles. Featuring a line-up of band founder Ed Wynne (Guitars, Synth & Bass) & Silas Wynne (Modular Synth & Keyboards) with Brandi Wynne (Bass Guitar) rounding off the trio. Alongside the Wynne's are Saskia Maxwell (Flute), Tim Wallander (Drums) & Paul Hankin (Percussion).
