BUILDINGS "It Doesn't Matter" 10" 11€
(Riot House Records)
Buildings return to the fold after a couple of split 7"s, presenting a five-song 10" vinyl that should please those waiting for a full-length record and at the same time piss them off because "It Doesn't Matter" is not a full-length record. If you don't know Buildings, they're a three piece noise rock band from Minneapolis and you should listen to them if you like the Melvins, Jesus Lizard, Metz, Pissed Jeans and/or any combination of the previously mentioned bands. Clear vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

MONOLITH CULT "Run from the Light" LP 13€
(Future Noise Recordings)
"God looked at all that he had made, and he saw that it was shit. Broken and subdued into religious conversion, Monolith Cult spread the gospel of despair, forcing their beliefs upon all with no ignominy or disgrace. To be a follower of the truth is the righteous path to failure, let us lead you to impending doom, where mass suicide is the light at the end of the tunnel. Born from the bliss of despondent rapture, Monolith Cult provides the opportunity to bring to life the realisation of the forthcoming human cull. Beg, plead and weep until you disown your old beliefs and leave your family behind as a distant memory. Monolith Cult provides zealous and unquestioning commitment to the riff, they will demand obedience and tell you how to think, act and feel. We are your new support network, every detail of your life is now owned by us. Monolith Cult has a special mission to destroy humanity and raise the banner of the chosen ones. Embrace your new identity and come with us to the ends of the earth, do not question the motives, do not question the reasons, it is now us against them and we must be victorious." BRAINBOMBS "Disposal of a Dead Body" 2LP 20€
(Skrammel Records)
Pretty much out of the blue, Brainbombs presents their first new album in 5 years! Consisting of material recorded between 2006-2009 (or 2009-2011, depending on the source), this double-LP features a whopping 24 songs of bona fide Swedish debauchery. The song titles may have matured a bit, but everything here still has that sense of blood, bile and unwashed cocks rubbed on worn out copies of The Stooges records. Black vinyls in double-LP sleeve. Black vinyl limited to 800 copies.

BRAINBOMBS "Obey" LP (Red vinyl) 20€
(Armageddon Label)
Armageddon Label has done the proper thing by doing another re-press of the classic Brainbombs album, "Obey", originally released in 1995. Eight festering tracks of open-sore noise rock damage, played simple, ugly and for maximum effect. A total car wreck, with guts spread all over the highway. This LP will take you down from feeling like a million bucks to fucking gutter trash. Red vinyl in black/silver sleeve. Limited edition of 486 copies.

BREMEN "s/t" 2LP 18€
(Skrammel Records)
Bremen is a Swedish duo consisting of members from such bands as Totalitär and Brainbombs among others, yet Bremen is something completely different. This double-album draws influences from minimalism, kraut rock, experimental music and space rock, the spectrum of moods ranging from laid back, almost jazzy improvisations to droney psychedelia to noisy space rock jams. Definitely not the sort of record you'd expect from these guys, but in a way it also makes perfect sense. Two black vinyls in black/white gatefold sleeve.

VINYYLIT:

QUTTINIRPAAQ "No Visitors" LP 16€
(Rural Isolation Project)
"No Visitors" is a serious blast of drug addled Southern psych, the opening 90 second blast a crumbling almost industrial sounding dirge that sounds like Brainbombs at 16rpm, filtered through some seriously Butthole Surfers style drugginess. And while not all of "No Visitors" is nearly so noisy, it is all pretty goddamn great. From pulsing low slung krautrock style murk, like on "Malvert", which drapes the motorik mesmer with wild squalls of caustic guitar noise, and creepy hissy whispery vocals, and what might be some detuned pianos, to slo-mo black noise doom-dirge crumble, like on "Ex-Batts" which literally sounds like the tape has been slowed down, so all the instruments rumble and crumble and moan, everything wrapped in sheets of wild squealing feedback, and near Merzbowian noise, all the while lumbering and lurching like some lost Buttholes jam played back on a broken boombox. These guys exist somewhere between skull crushing noise rock, atmospheric noise drenched Japanese style psych and primitive caveman dirgery, comparisons having mentioned Brainbombs, Skullflower and Les Rallizes Denudes, but they probably should also include Drunkdriver, Twin Stumps, Violent Students, Rusted Shut, Burmese, Liquorball, you can probably figure out what sort of glorious, druggy noisiness we're talking about. Super heavy, ultra psychedelic, stumbling and crushing, tranced out and woozily hypnotic, massive slabs of churning low end, beneath crunchy, jagged, distorto guitars, wild streaks of feedback everywhere, the vocals yelped and yowled, sometimes bellowed, here and there delivered in a deeply dramatic, and sort of creepy croon, the sound constantly on the verge of collapse, but always seeming to eventually coalesce into some seriously demented, kraut-sludge heaviness. Purple 180 gram vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 300 copies.
http://quttinirpaaq.bandcamp.com

QUTTINIRPAAQ "Let's Hang Out" LP 16€
(Rural Isolation Project)
If you dug "No Visitors", the debut LP from this drugged out psych/doom/noise/kraut/sludge outfit, this is more of the same, blown out psychedelic heaviness, that sounds like a mash-up up of the Butthole Surfers, Hawkwind and Shit and Shine, all filtered though AmRep nineties noise rock and Texas knuckle draggers Rusted Shut. Which is about all you need to know. The brief sort-of intro, the sweetly titled "Diary of a Pig Keeper's Wife", is all detuned trudge, crumbling slo-mo riffage, death march drums, weird, slowed down chant like vocals, this is some sort of wasted, psychedelic ultra doom, but it's on "Chinese Hercules" that Quttinirpaaq really get to flex their musical muscles, locking almost immediately into some seriously tranced out, heavy hypno-rock riffage, that weds super distorted drum pound to churning looped riffage, garbled vox and swirls of noise and effects into some heavy, space, psychedelic noise rock that takes everything you love about White Hills, The Heads and all the rest, cranks it way up, and drags it through the filth, resulting in some seriously next level kraut-sludge space-psych heaviness that kills. And while it doesn't necessarily get better from there (not sure how it could really), it stays pretty epic and psychedelic, heavy and warped, tripped our and trancey, most of the tracks some weird sort of hybridized psychedelic krautrock and noise rock crush, the band locked into endless grooves that roil and churn mesmerically, while all around sounds swoop and swirl, streaks of feedback, blasts of FX, constantly shifting textures, buried melodies, all blurred and smeared into heaving, noisy, heavy psych weirdness. Some of the tracks here get downright out there, some surprisingly beautiful, still noisy, but infused with surprising melodies, and crafted with a delicate touch, while others are just pure skull caving crush, and still others are almost electronic sounding, seemingly dabbling in the same warped outsider electronics as Shit and Shine. Needless to say this rules. Everyone who bought and loved "No Visitors", is gonna want this too. And if you've yet to check these guys out, "Let's Hang Out" might just be your new favorite heavy/noise/psych/space jam. You have been warned. Pressed on 180 gram "clear with blood spray" vinyl in full colour sleeve including a full colour insert. Limited edition of 300 copies.

THE BLIND SHAKE "Get Youth" 7"
(Depression House Records)
"Get Youth" is the title of the new single by The Blind Shake, making clear the Minneapolis trio is not ready to become senile. On this slab of black wax, the band blasts through two cuts of their voodooesque garage-punk with a heavy tendency towards Amphetamine Reptile style racket. "Get Youth" equals two minutes of noise, feedback, breakneck speed and psycho low-end. "Brickhouse Burro" on the flipside is both a throat-drying and neck-snapping stomper as well as it is a sleazy groover, danzing around the totem called The Cramps. Black vinyl in black/white sleeve. Limited and numbered edition of 260 copies.

FLESHPRESS "Tearing Skyholes" 2x12" 17€
(Kult of Nihilow)
Four men dragging behind them a weight equal to the burden of existence. Years and years of constant uphill struggle, slowly rising from sludgy roots towards a plane never walked, witnessed or heard. Parched skin and weary posture may fool the uninitiated, for this troupe will bare their teeth when you least expect it, devouring all like the gaping maw of a sudden storm. All this manifests on Tearing Skyholes, the sixth album by Fleshpress. The years travelled off the beaten path show in the pure vision and determination to deliver the ultimate work of sound thus far. Ironically, the sound now being stripped to bare essentials, the music reveals unprecedented sonic richness and atmosphere. Make no mistake; the teeth are still sharp, the spit remains venomous and the heaviness is still more than you can handle, but something new and far more ominous is brooding inside this beast. Two black vinyls in full colour sleeve with insert.
http://fleshpress.bandcamp.com

HAWKS "s/t" LP 15€
(Rejuvenation Records)
Hawks have made a respected art of designed carelessness, all rusted strings and chugging groove, honing what has become a finely out-of-tuned craft following in the traditions of labels like Touch and Go, Am Rep and Trance Syndicate. In 2014, while writing and structuring the newest full length, the band decided to unleash 5 new tracks and 6 previously released tracks on an all new full length, because why the fuck not. The record was recorded in the same room every song has been written. Where every fight has started and ended, where hopes go to die.

Check list:
8 microphones
4 cases of beer
2 dime bags
3 bottles of whiskey
a carton of cigs
a general hate for the youth of today
4 boys
3 blown speakers
10 broken cables mixer tape

This was the recipe for what is their fourth album, plainly entitled "Hawks", a snapshot of the process and an unfiltered glimpse into the world they create and representing the evolution of what the band has become. Green vinyl in full colour sleeve with printed inner sleeve and stickers. Limited edition of 250 copies.

LOINEN / USKO Split 7"
(Kult of Nihilow)
Two bulldozing twin-bass sludge outfits join forces to create the ultimate in low-end filth. Loinen, Karjaa's nastiest, represent the older generation of Finnish sludge monsters whereas Usko from Lahti offer a younger yet equally depraved perspective with their uncompromising low-end assault. Black vinyl in black/white sleeve with classic G.G. artwork. Limited edition of 207 copies.

ULTRACOÏT "Sex Church" LP 13€
(Rejuvenation Records / A Tant Rêver Du Roi / Ocinatas Industries / Gabu Records / Bruisson / Day Off)
Ultracoït is a perverted quartet from Paris, ejaculating some quality noise rock à la Unsane or Cherubs, but adding their own pornographic twist to it. No matter if you enjoy porn or not (of course you do!), these guys don't give a shit. "Sex Church" contains ten demented sermons which show Ultracoït even harder than on their previous releases. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert and stickers. Limited edition of 500 copies.

STUMM "Stumm is Dead" Tape
(Kaos Kontrol)
Always on the brink of self-destruction, the Finnish sludge trio Stumm had a painstaking seven-year run of activity between 2003-2010. In addition to the material released on the demo, full length album and two split vinyls, the band had a selection of songs that were only performed in live situations prior to the band eventually ceasing to exist. All unreleased material is presented on this tape, the quality of performances and recordings ranging from horrid to unbearable, but Stumm was never one for entertainment value or good vibrations. Pure pain put into music. Besides the previously unreleased material included are the only two cover songs Stumm ever played live, by Deep Purple and Mayhem respectively. "Stumm is Dead" presents the final nail in the coffin for one of the early bands in the Finnish sludge scene. Limited and numbered edition of 100 copies, only available through Kaos Kontrol. Professionally duplicated black C-80 tape with black on-shell printing and black/black printed j-card. No digital download. No nothing.

HEBOSAGIL "Lähtö" LP 15€
(Full Contact Records)
The Maya didn't know anything, whereas Hebosagil knows when the hour comes, when it's time for Lähtö, and their manner of exiting is big, loud, penetrating, and hard to the core. From the fallout, the radiometers are detecting remnant radiation from Slayer and Melvins, while the cockroaches may still recognise the brutal beat of Radiopuhelimet and Unsane. Musically, Hebosagil's "Lähtö" relies equally on their previous material and on turning a new page. They plunge towards more and more tormenting tunes that stick to your frontal lobe, avoiding the pitfalls from which most of the so-called heavy and uncompromising bands are eternally doomed to seek a way out. They don't know anything. Hebosagil knows. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with printed full colour inner sleeve.

SHAVED WOMEN "Just Death" LP 15€
(Full Contact Records)
Shaved Women have finally decided to give the public what they've been frothing at the mouth for, a new full length record. Giving maladjusted hope to aspiring psychopaths everywhere, this fat slab is full of tasty jams. The distorted, buzz saw riffs make you want to carry around a knife, not a switchblade. The John Bonham meets the Incredible Hulk drums make you want you start a fight with a wall until you have less bones. The vocals drill into your head and convince you that they only way out is to slam through the ground tearing all of your friends designer blouses while failing through the wormhole. Simply put, this sounds like the tension of blood boiling after a car accident...if it was catchy. Coming on their 4th year as a band with releases in the ether, Shaved Women aren't succumbing to the usual slump that some bands take on after doing some real tours and getting the name out there. This isn't indicative of a sophmore, junior, or senior slump. No, Shaved Women will at least make it to community college and drop out. For the rest of you quitters, here's a record to attach your anger to and do what you see fit during each jam, most likely going fists first out of your windshield when your car wants to fight other cars. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with huge 24"x24" poster insert. Black vinyl limited to 350 copies out of 500 copies in total.

BURMESE "Lun Yurn" LP 13€
(Rock is Hell)
Ludicrously powerful. Relentlessly crushing. This is the new full-length studio release from the West Coast behemoth. 12 cruel, inventive tracks of structure and noise executed on double drums, twin basses and harrowing vocals. Produced by Weasel Walter, this is one of the finest recordings of the band ever and reflects the massive impact of the band's live sound. The LP version features silkscreened fold-out cover, obi-strip and white vinyl. Limited edition of 251 copies.

MARK DEUTROM "Ruckus Juice" 12" 15€

MARK DEUTROM "The Value of Decay" 2LP 18€
(Rock is Hell)
Mark Deutrom, probably best known as an ex-member of The Melvins as well as for his collaboration with Sunn O))), presents one hell of an interesting collection of music that flirts between artful cut-up-style audio collage, amplifier-melting bluesy drone and ZZ Top/Melvins-esque gritty rock shuffles with scorching lead breaks. Sure it sounds kinda disparate, in print, but in actuality it all hangs together nicely thanks to Mr D’s impeccable ear. Two black vinyls (with etched D-side) in gatefold sleeve. Limited edition of 400 copies.

EVEN WORSE THAN EXPECTED Compilation 2x10" 20€

Definitely not your average hit parade compilation! Silkscreened fold out sleeve and silkscreened D-side. Limited edition of 405 copies and the green sleeve version is limited to 192 copies.

SHIT & SHINE "Le Grand Larance Prix" 3LP 22€
(Rock is Hell)
Shit and Shine are one of those bands that you don't hear about a great deal. They drift along under the radar, going about their schtick, bouncing around in fucked up bunny masks, beating Black Sabbath riffage into kraut rock sculptures. They can ride a single idea for 25 minutes and somehow not be boring. They push boundaries without ever losing their sense of humour. Shit and Shine are one of those acts that only a handful of people listen to today, but which music kids of the future will be namedropping in interviews with Pitchfork. For now, they're just doing their own thing and being picked up on weirdo blogs and left-of-centre magazines. "Le Grand Larance Prix" ain't your typical Shit and Shine record. Dare we say it's their ambient record? Bass heavy chug has been abandoned for samples and synths, a loop-filled remix of their signature racket. "Switching 2 Night Mode" sounds like a party of forgetful stoners unaware the needle is stuck in a scratched groove. Typical of Shit and Shine's perverse humour, the funky bass and dance-friendly 4/4 rhythm is erratically smashed up with blasts of distorted voice spruiking banal party tropes. "I can dig it!" Elsewhere, "French's Automotive" is a meditation on Oneohtrix Point Never's synthesized world; "How to Rattle a White Tailed Buck" takes the stunted beats of Autechre down into a deep, dark k-hole, and the record's closing number Klipp is a cute little homage to Neu!, the pioneers of kraut rock. It’s a diverse and sometimes challenging listen but is "Le Grand Larance Prix" any good? Yes. Yes it is. Three red vinyls in gatefold sleeve. Second pressing on red vinyl, limited to 150 copies.

CUTTHROATS 9 "Dissent" LP 18€
(Lamb Unlimited)
Cutthroats 9 are back!!! After leaving New York behind, this time for good, Chris Spencer of Unsane decided to bring Cutthroats 9 back from hiatus, recruiting the original drummer Will Carroll (Death Angel) and former -(16)- bassist Tony Baumeister to the ranks. Musically, "Dissent" continues where the "Anger Management" 10" left off. Violent noise rock with a blues-ier approach than before, much thanks to Spencer's slide guitar antics. "Dissent" is a much awaited release for sure and a perfect launch for Chris Spencer's new label, Lamb Unlimited. Black 150g vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon.

DIESTO "For Water or Blood" LP 16€
(Eolian Empire)
Diesto, one of Portland, Oregon's longest running stalwart heavy acts, embodies the city’s tumultuous history from uncharted territory to stump town to drug den to beacon for all that is heavy. With well more than a decade of forays into the seedy underbelly of shitty city life and explorations of desert desolation under their belts, Diesto embarked on a back-breaking expedition headlong into the dense Cascadian wilderness and out to the ancient ocean. On their fifth LP "For Water or Blood" the band carves out its own territory in the Pacific Northwest’s long tradition of melancholic doom: long, devious deepwoods soundtracks of thunderously heavy dirges, cyclic riffs, escalating duel guitar lines, dramatic shifts, noisy bursts, and evocative laments, for an arduous but adventurous journey into the unknown using the wisdom of the ages. Go west, young man. Black 180g vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

DRUNK DAD "Morbid Reality" 12" 13€
(Eolian Empire)
"Morbid Reality", the first vinyl release from Drunk Dad, Portland's favorite (bad) boy band, captures their coarse blend of early 80's hardcore (the good stuff), metallic noise rock, and—of course—that inimitable Pacific Northwest sound (it must be something in the trees). If they weren't such dirty fuckers they'd be one of Portland's shining success stories of unrelenting hard work and dedication: in a surprisingly short time Drunk Dad went from favorite-band-shirts-on-their-hearts-on-their-sleeves to a unique and dynamic fusion of the heavy, the noisy, and the aggro, with a healthy dose of high drama, as they consistently churn out some of the most devastating live sets Portland has seen in years. Complex but in-your-face arrangements, push-pull duel-guitar interplay, searing behind-the-head leads, heavy motherfucking bass, and hard-hitting, tight, technical traps with dynamic, disturbing vocals to hold it all together. Ethical scumbaggery at its finest. Black vinyl in silkscreened sleeve including a lyrics insert. Limited edition of 500 copies.

DRUNK DAD "Ripper Killer" LP 16€
(Eolian Empire)
Drunk Dad, Portland's one and only fuck-you-all-wave group, is on a seemingly unstoppable trajectory. In the last two years they have hard-won the turned heads and knowing nods of enthusiastic youngsters and old cynics alike with their all-out assaults on rock and convention. Their art-fucked sludgy hardcore free-jazz noise rock is as unclassifiable as it is enthralling, the splendid result of a rare new band that not only knows what it wants but how to get it. With their first LP "Ripper Killer", Drunk Dad breaks down the stifling genre walls of yore and rewires the wreckage into an mega-heavy alloy of scuzz, filth, and noise in a knock-down, drag-out war of ill will wrapped in a nasty bow. Crusty riffs, off-kilter sludge hooks, bombing-and-weaving bass, cracked-out noise (aided by horrorshow harsh noiser Redneck), and scorched solos collide over drums that run the gamut from breakneck beatdowns to thuggish clockings to gonzo new math complifuckingcations. Throw in vocals that shift through gruff rock, degenerate screams, morose croons, pulp poetry, and more to push and pull it all together, and you got yourself one savage platter to devour. It rips, it kills, it's Drunk Dad. Black 180g vinyl in full colour sleeve with 12"x24" poster insert and digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

GRAVES AT SEA "This Place is Poison" 12" 13€
(Eolian Empire)
After a too-long dormancy, underground doom desperados Graves at Sea have risen again. Now based in Portland and buoyed by a killer new rhythm section, the slow-mo sludge sluggers are set to crush all over again, as evidenced on this 12-inch EP. The A-side "This Place is Poison" brings it all flooding back… ugly, crusted-over guitars anchored away by swampy bass and pounding drums all bathed in tortured howls and pained shrieks, but in shaking off the cobwebs Graves at Sea has emerged reanimated with a heretofore unheard speed… at least when compared to their swamp-crawl slow of the past. On the B-side, Black Sabbath's "Orchid" and "Lord of This World" get bold re-imaginings: "Orchid" is eroded beyond its essence into a morose march toward death, while "Lord of This World" is reconfigured with the grim elements of blackened bleakness from the last 23 years - crust-heavy riffs, sonic shifts, bilious hisses -stunningly taking the original to a dark, frightening place worthy of the titular Lord himself. Devastating, desperate doom. Black vinyl in black/gold sleeve with insert and digital download coupon. Limited edition of 1000 copies.

HANDS UP WHO WANTS TO DIE "Vega in the Lyre" LP 15€
(Art for Blind Records/Learning Curve Records)
Hands Up Who Wants To Die is a noisy and dynamic rock band that operates in Dublin, Ireland. One that has been described as 'Big'N and Enablers in a blender', 'the epitome of substance and spectacle combined' and 'all angles and noise, edges and respite, razor riffs, visceral vocals, heinous hooks, yet on the face of it, as smooth as a mirror, as sheer as cliff-face'. It features four active members of Dublin's vibrant independent music scene that play in No Spill Blood, The Bridges of Madison County and Wild Rocket. The band’s vocalist, Barry Lennon, was a founder of seminal record label The Richter Collective. After an abnormally long gestation period, the band are finally ready to go into labour with their fourth and most considered work to date. This second LP, "Vega in the Lyre", sees the band expanding their musical palette while simultaneously exploring wonkier, more delicate and more brutal territories with the help of producer - and arguably fifth band member - John 'Spud' Murphy. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with full colour inner sleeve and digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

HONDURAN "Street Eagles" LP 16€
(Eolian Empire)
Honduran, Portland's "elite hit squad of brutality", is here to fuck up your day. This trio of hardcore savants is a brain-damaged gang of punks thrashing and bludgeoning its way down every block and every alley in doomtown. Their new 11-song, 21-minute LP "Street Eagles" is a relentless race against time of brutal hardcore, violent grind, damaged noise rock, fuckered-sludge, and breakdowns, breakdowns, breakdowns. Riff after riff of palm-muted madness and finger-clicking bass over an volatile bed of beats both lightning fast and super slow with back-and-forth shrieking screams and guttural growls from three twisted technicians way down in the front-line trenches. Shitizens unite! Black 180g vinyl in silkscreened sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

POWER-TAKE-OFF "This is Late" LP 16€
(Learning Curve Records)
Don't let the laconic warped Western album intro lull you into a false sense of serenity, be assured this record is coming for your head. And it's bringing with it a swinging hammer of sludgy noise rock capable of deafening an entire city block. Big, hulking, spiteful noise rock that backs you into a corner and reels off paranoid rant after paranoid rant. It accuses you of crimes you hadn't even thought to commit, nor did you wish to be privy to. It throws a thick, heavy blanket of diseased wool over your head to administer a methodical and ritualistic beating, humming the entire time. It does things that nice bands don't... or won't depending on your own personal politics. So who's behind this parade of the horribles anyway? For starters, and mainly, you're dealing with Gus Engstrom of the defunct Grids (a killing spree of a band in their own right). He is augmented in his quest for audio upheaval by Creston Spiers of Harvey Milk on trumpet (of all things), John Neff of Drive By Truckers on pedal steel, Adam Marx of Seawhores on guitar, and Matt from Moonshine on drums. Together they mount one convincing assault on your ears, all pummel and thud, with that hint of nuanced psychosis... just the right amount of crazy. If you have any Rusted Shut, Clockcleaner, Head of David, King Snake Roost, Swans, Harvey Milk or Flipper in your record collection, then you've found a winner here. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert and digital download coupon. Black vinyl limited to 300 copies out of 400 copies in total.

PRIZEHOG "Re-Unvent the Whool" LP 16€
(Eolian Empire)
Prizehog, the massive, mind-bending Portland-by-way-of-the-Bay-Area trio, exists on another plane. Combining meditative grooves, punishing sludge, dazzling melodies, ultra-heavy psych, and crunchy riffs aplenty using a baffling and impossibly cryptic calculus, Prizehog has created its own bizarro universe of heaviness. "Re-Unvent the Whool", their fifth release, is a magnificently powerful LP, a byzantine labyrinth of impenetrable riffs, crushing dirges, heavy hooks, and warped excursions wrapped in triumphant progressions made complete with downshifted bellows and dark cries; perplexing and mystifying yet grand, spellbinding, enthralling, and uncannily soulful. With eight years of non-stop playing and four releases behind them, Prizehog set out to make their most ambitious work to date. Recorded and mixed by Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Big Business, Tool, Russian Circles) at his Sun Valley studio Sound of Sirens, "Re-Unvent the Whool" is a wonderous invention (unvention?), a record full of depth, complexity, power, humor, and beauty and a truly unique vision of genuine heaviness. Black 180g vinyl in full colour sleeve with full colour insert, 18"x24" poster and digital download coupon.

RABBITS "Untoward" LP 18€
(Lamb Unlimited)
The latest album from Portland's Rabbits, this time released on the up-and-coming Lamb Unlimited label run by Chris Spencer of Unsane/Cutthroats 9/Celan fame. Six songs of dirty, sludgey noise rock with the nice punky vibe Rabbits is known for. Black 150g vinyl in full colour sleeve with black/white inner sleeve.
http://rabbitusmaximus.bandcamp.com

TOWERS "II" LP 16€
(Eolian Empire)
Towers, Portland's apocalyptic bass-and-drums duo, has dragged and scraped chunks and shards from all the darkest sonic territories to assemble a heavy monster in its own image. Both primitive and futurist, Towers transcends musical movements, molding Promethean monoliths out of doom, sludge, no wave, new wave, industrial, and psychedelia. On their second LP "II" Towers purposefully shifts through a procession of primal mutant grooves, oscillating hooks, sludgy crawls, cavernous experimental explorations, and haunting, swinging marches forward marked by the barked invocations of a Teutonic chief—Hell is coming!—and ghostly incantations of the wounded and beaten. "II" is a huge, enveloping beast of a record that captures the unique crushing intensity of their live sets. Towers rules the wasteland. Black 180g vinyl in silkscreened sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 300 copies.
http://digital.eolianempire.com/album/ii

WHORES / RABBITS Split 7"
(Eolian Empire/Brutal Panda Records)
East (Coast) meets West (Coast) in noise rock: Whores and Rabbits joined together in misanthropy and misery. And what better material to manifest their unwavering rage than that of The Cure? Whores crushes "Jumping Someone Else's Train," taking said train on a insanely heavy ride, the main riff stretched into a hypnotic groove forever beat into your brain. Rabbits opens with the stark "A Reflection" before cranking out an uncaged, claustrophobic version of "Give Me It" - who let these maniacs out? Killer slab of new noise. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. Black vinyl limited to 400 copies out of 500 copies in total.

VOLUNTEER "s/t" MLP 13€
(Underground Communiqué Records)
Debut vinyl from Milwaukee's Volunteer, guaranteed to satisfy even the most dehydrated noise rock thirst. Featuring ex-members of Traitors, Gasoline Fight, Stock Options, Forstella Ford and Bound to One. Perhaps those names don't say much to the Euro-folk, but namedropping influences such as Unsane, Young Widows, Helmet and The Melvins should be enough to tell you what sort of pummeling is to be expected here. Black vinyl in silkscreened sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 200 copies.

VOLUNTEER "Goner EP" 10" 10€
(Triple Eye Industries)
When Robert Christgau pioneered the term pigfuck to describe the harsh sounds of Sonic Youth and their peers, he probably had no idea he'd inadvertedly coined the name of a subgenre based around plodding, subterranean and frankly ugly guitar-driven noise rock that was far more offensive than anything the no wave scene ever produced. Midwestern pigfuckers Volunteer don't cite Christgau's colourful term on their Bandcamp page. They do list the usual suspects in their sonic goals – The Jesus Lizard, Unsane, Helmet – but they don't need to. Most bands who say they sound like The Jesus Lizard sound like they're covering lost demo tapes of The Jesus Lizard, but on "Goner", Volunteer's four-track EP, the Milwaukee trio bear little resemblance to the David Yow-fronted outfit, instead dealing a punishing 15 minute collection of defiant, unsubtle and powerful noise rock anthems. It's not all angry machismo though; closing out the collection is a cover of Jawbreaker's confessional "I Love You So Much It's Killing Us Both." Volunteer's version is slowed down and the half-sung, half-spoken lyrics are mired in almost as much distortion as the guitars add an even more strained dimension to an already emotionally strained song. When Jawbreaker's Blake Schwarzenbach sings "This lullably is blue/Lie and say we’re through," he sounds mournful, but Volunteer vocalist Francisco Ramirez slurs those words like he's speaking with the stomach full of a Vicodin and the barrel of a shotgun placed firmly in the his mouth. Black vinyl in screenprinted sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 100 copies.

AMERICAN HERITAGE "Prolapse" LP 15€
(Solar Flare Records)
Since 1996, American Heritage has relentlessly dispatched their ripping concoction of technical, mangled metal/hardcore backed with their cynical, lowbrow music and human relations, both on record and on the stage. Their self-titled 1998 debut EP released on The Rosewood Union was chased by the full-length, "Why Everyone Gets Cancer", released in 1999 on the same label, and their "Through the Age of Quarrel and Into the Era of Putting Up with It" album released in 2001 by Troubleman Unlimited, and then the "Bipolar" album through Escape Artist in 2004. Two subsequent albums on Translation Loss followed — 2006's "Millenarian" and 2011's "Sedentary", the latter released in Europe via Solar Flare Records — among EPs on Class-B Records, Delboy Records and more including split 7" releases with Thee Plague of Gentlemen, Mastodon and others. Following the departure of original guitarist Andrei Cabanban back in 2002, through a continually revolving array of bassists, American Heritage has been steadily comprised of drummer Mike Duffy, vocalist/guitarist Adam Norden and guitarist Scott Shellhamer, and for the past several years, completed by bassist Erik Bocek. This lineup raided SOMA Studios in March of this year with producer Sanford Parker, with additional recording by Che Arthur and Mike Lust, to record their sixth full-length, "Prolapse". Once the caustic madness of the bruising album was recorded, Parker mixed the final product, the thirty-three minute album displaying some of the band's most diverse material to date. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 300 copies.
http://americanheritage.bandcamp.com

PORD "Wild" LP 15€
(Solar Flare Records)
Pord started out as a trio in 2002 in the darkest depths of Lozère, France. The three-piece's output evolved very quickly toward something much rougher and wilder, a powerful brand of noise rock reminiscent of reference bands such as Dazzling Killmen, Keelhaul or Craw. A blend of complexely structured compositions with the throbbing and hypnotic undertow that the trio is so fond of, along with a sometimes heavy and powerful, sometimes twisted rhythmic section, backed by incredibly tortured vocals. In March 2014, Pord recorded a new album with Serge Morattel at Rec Studio in Geneva (Knut, Tantrum, Ventura, Basement…). "Wild" shows a renewed musical evolution with Pord's typical raging sound coupled with a hint of rock'n'roll on a number of songs. With a faster pace and precise execution, their taut and aggressive delivery remains intact throughout. The vocals also evolve toward a more rasping, primitive and offbeat rendering of cruder and increasingly straightforward lyrics. Full colour sleeve with printed inner sleeve. Available on green/white splatter vinyl (limited to 200 copies) and black vinyl (limited to 300 copies).

THE GREAT SABATINI "Dog Years" LP 14€
(Solar Flare Records)
"Dog Years" is The Great Sabatini's third full length album. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Sean Pearson (Cursed, Shallow North Dakota), and uses a raw, un-polished approach to capture a band with years of accumulated experience touring, writing and recording together. The aim was to create a hi fi document with all of their lo fi sensibilities, grit and live energy intact. With the songs, the band strives to bring more focus and muscularity to their ideas… to reign in their use of musical devices and create a series of pieces that each expressed some facet of their sonic personality as a band, without wasting too much time, or bogging down the compositions with too many needless bells and whistles. Each song has a different story to tell, musically and lyrically, so the band hopes to leave listeners with a diverse set of tunes that reveal nuances inside the noise and grime with each listen. Having said that, the weight of every riff, the conviction behind every note, is the thread used to sew it all together. Every tune should represent the balance of precision playing and sonic pummel which they strive for. They want to move people. Not just the heshers who worship the almighty riff, but the folks out there with ears tuned to different marriages of sound. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 300 copies.

GRIZZLOR "When You Die" 7"
(Money Fire Records)
Completely brutal, sludged out, noise rock masters from New Haven, Connecticut, Grizzlor, not only have an awesome band name, but fucking kill every single song that they put down on "When You Die". Their spastic guitar style mixed with gravelly bass, punishing drumming and super abrasive vocal work make for an ear stabbing, gut-punch of an EP. Who knows what's in the water in Connecticut, but every band that comes out of that state is potentially some of the heaviest and most pissed off music concentrated from one area. Black vinyl in black/white sleeve.

MADEINCANADA / EX WIVES Split 10" 10€
(Cheap Satanism Records/Fuzz Wire/Gabu Records/Whosbrain? Records)
madeincanada is a noise rock trio that is both heavy and sharp. Formed in 2011, the band released a split 7" in 2013 with Minneapolis combo Buildings on the american label The Exit Music Recording Company. After playing shows with bands such as Big'n, Bellini, Buildings, Silent Front, Jessica 93 and Blacklisters, madeincanada is now presenting a split 10" with Ex Wives (Scotland). madeincanada is a Phil Collins tribute band with a frog in the throat. Ex Wives are two divorced women and a drum machine. Despite their obvious pain and their mistrust of men, they got together to make loud music, partly inspired by the film Dante's Peak which features Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton. Ex Wives is a skin flute trio. Black vinyl in black/white sleeve with insert.

MISSILES OF OCTOBER "Don't Panic" LP 10€

A Belgian band named after the Cuban Missile Crisis is not something you hear every day. This trio's debut album contains such titles as "Music for Hangover", "Two Feet in Sludge" and the delightful, "You Pray a World of Shit". There's a bit of a Black Flag influence here (mind you, track B2 "Six Pack" is NOT a cover), but you can also hear some NYC noise rock in the vein of Unsane. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. ART OF BURNING WATER "Living is for Living, Dying is for Getting" LP 15€
(SuperFi Records/Riot Season)
Art of Burning Water refuse to die despite being one of the most frowned upon bunch of noise making twats of the past 10 years. There is no machine behind this band and the UK 'underground' rock circle jerk has never approved them or championed them and they do not have friends in high places but do have high friends. You won't be told to check them out and they will not be seen high fiving the correct people in the correct places in order to further their way up festival bills with the correct bands. Art of Burning Water are outsiders in the truest sense of the word and very proud to stand outside the circle of your love. Art of Burning Water are a steroided immigrant noise punk outfit that does not need to be loved to live. Art of Burning Water love what they do and therefore need not be loved for what they do. This is strong music by weak people. For fans of: Keelhaul, Rorschach, Voivod, Amebix, Godflesh and Motörhead. Black vinyl in black/grey sleeve with insert. Limited edition of 300 copies.

MULTICULT "Spaces Tangled" LP 16€
(Sleeping Giant Glossolalia)
The second album for Baltimore's Multicult following a cool single on the Amplified Noise label. "Spaces Tangled" certainly seems to capitalize on what the band laid down on that seven-inch and then some. Very cool stuff that seems to take some of the more interesting parts of the past years of Chicago. Definitely a big Albini Big Black/Rapeman vibe going on, but the bass work throughout the album and also strongly brings to mind past Chicago math-rock greats Table. The razor thinness and bass heavy bounce all point heavily to them, although Multicult seem to be more inclined to reach into abrasiveness more often rather than some of the loopy and disorienting techniques that Table played around with. People may read this and want to write the band off as yet another clone of an already well explored sound, however Multicult really show they have the chops to make it work by simply injecting some creativity into the songwriting and concurrently displaying a level of prowess that the best of the genre all seem to carry. Major leap forward from what was already an impressive single. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve including a digital download coupon.
http://multicult.bandcamp.com

MULTICULT "Variable Impulse" LP 16€
(Sleeping Giant Glossolalia)
Multicult are back with this beast of an LP. For those just getting into Multicult, "Variable Impulse" is a perfect place to start. This Baltimore trio has been around for a bit now and while they've been compared to some of the greats like Shellac, Cherubs, and even Rusted Shut, this LP shows just how much they are willing to push themselves. This album is unrelenting, and it's no stretch to say it stands right up there with any of this bands mentioned above. Songs like "Othello" and "Particle Shower" go straight for the gut with their plowing bass sound. "Expressionless" is a mini epic of sorts and would give any clowny "math rock" tag a run for its money. This description really does it no justice. Just buy the damn record. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert and digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.
http://multicult.bandcamp.com

MULTICULT "Jaws b/w Luxury" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
A good thing: two new Multicult tracks, released by the ever-scuzzy Reptilian Records. "Jaws" leads off in somewhat subdued fashion, slouchily rhythmic with mumblefuck vocals and clicky, clanky parts seemingly constructed from Meccano, ultimately coming to a slow, steady and extremely satisfying boil. "Luxury" is made of similarly jerky stuff, laden with harmonics, a bit more jagged and with this nasty rib-prodding vibe that makes you feel like you're being encircled by a gang of dead-eyed, pig-jowled bullies. It's a pretty goddamn great seven inch if you have an unhealthy fascination for bands like Tar, Big Black and The Fall or fancy hearing what Jawbox might've sounded like if they'd ever had a total shitfit. Blue/white splatter vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon. This colour is limited to 200 copies out of 1000 copies in total.
http://multicult.bandcamp.com

SCREEN WIVES "Women in Love" LP 12€
(SuperFi Records)
Neato heavy and awkward post-hardcore that arguably sits alongside fellow youthful UK bands like Skylark, Plaids, Kind Eyes, Wooderson and Shield Your Eyes that have their roots in that 90's US Gravity Records-esque (proper) emo scene. Discordance and twistiness abounds with a quintessentially British oddness to it. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert. Limited edition of 250 copies.

(We've Got) FIENDS IN LOW PLACES: Heavy Vibes Internationale Compilation Tape
(Eolian Empire)
(We've Got) Fiends in Low Places: Heavy Vibes Internationale is a gnarled calling card from 15 bands bashing away in the international heavy underground. Over 50 minutes long with 15 exclusive tracks of noisy rock, sludge, doom, punk, hardcore, you-name-it from champions of the underground in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Japan making stark, aggressive, noise-laden tunes worked over with smarts and wicked humor, an international summit of heavy bands operating outside convention. Featuring Arabrot, Bastard of the Skies, Batpiss, Cyberne, Dead, Elephant Rifle, The Great Sabatini, Health Problems, Hombre Malo, Meadows, Moe, Same-Sex Dictator, Teeph, Throat, and Timekiller. Tracks were recorded in each band's home country, most specifically for this compilation, the follow-up to Eolian Empire's 2013 Keep Our Heads compilation of heavy underground Portland bands. It's a wild trip through twisted noise rock, bludgeoning sludge, psychotic metal, blackened hardcore, and damaged punk, each act's warped worldview in full effect. Comforting or discomforting, Fiends in Low Places at least affirms we're not the only ones this fucked up. In an age when many are looking back with nostalgia for the lost and forgotten weirdo bands of yesteryear, it's good to know we can find pigfucking goodness all around the world right now and no doubt for years to come. Red cassette with white ink and full colour j-card with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 333 copies.

BASEMENT "Counterclockwise" MLP 12€
(Some Produkt)
Basement from Libourne, France has been kicking out the noise-rock jams since the mid-90s. If you like Jesus Lizard, Unsane, Distorted Pony, Cop Shoot Cop and Fugazi in a big concoction to consume, then you should slurp down this 4-song 12"EP. White vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert and digital download coupon. Limited edition of 500 copies.

LEATHER SLAVE "s/t" LP 18€
(Permanent Records)
Leather Slave are from LA and sound a lot like Brainbombs. Here are some review excerpts from Julian Cope's Head Heritage site:
"I've never heard any band...match what [Leather Slave] did. Period. From what I heard the band is still going strong, although I dunno if it's still the same lineup... Of course one of the enigmatic things about this band is that they don't list credits or any information about themselves... But the thing that really sets this band apart is not only that the musicianship is brilliant, but that they have no redeeming value whatsoever(!) It's rock 'n roll at it's most primal and destructive -- what your parents feared in such music. Think Rolling Stones circa Exile on Main Street crossed with an even more stripped-down Raw Power by the Stooges, along with the more anarchic moments from the Swans, topped off by the writings of De Sade and Peter Sotos and yr halfway there... It's "Horror-Punk" except inspired by "Last House on Dead End Street" rather than "Teenage Frankenstein" or whatever...
Their...album starts off deceptively innocuous...but gets shattered by a devastating discordant riff, with what could be a manifesto of some sort. "If you have the fucking power, then use it to kill them all!"
Again the amazing thing about the band is the musicianship, although the songs are not songs as much as they could be called loops in a way -- mostly a series of tight grooves that threaten to fall apart and often do. The drummer has a particularly nimble touch here, but can kick out the jams just as John Bonham can... The guitars manage to sound incredibly sick and brutal, pretty much adding to the theme, but even when they restrain it a little the effect is still quite disturbing. As for the vocals, it's not singing as much as speaking...but somehow it still works in the overall musical fabric, so to speak...
But the playing's extremely good -- they seemed to have studied rock 'n roll right down to its blues/country roots.
Of course the album closes with a totally repellent track that's a noisy, discordant mess, although that drummer still manages to keep it together which is (again) amazing... Probably this band isn't for everyone's taste, but if you like good rock 'n roll and at the same time appreciate what Whitehouse does, then this is for you."
This review is technically of Brainbombs' "Obey", but since Leather Slave have so much in common with Brainbombs, we imagine Mr. Cope would have exactly the same thing to say about Leather Slave. Genius and Brutality. Taste and Power. For days. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert. Black vinyl limited to 200 copies out of 100 copies in total.

Two fine French noise rock bands team up to serve two songs each on a sexy 10" platter. Magneto are known to deliver excellent Fugazi-esque noise rock/post-hardcore with a mathy touch and deliver the goods this time as well. Pylone nod deeper towards the Chicago sound, being rough and vicious as well as dangerously precise in their delivery at the same time. Black vinyl in special die cut sleeve. RECTAL HYGIENICS "Ultimate Purity" LP 18€

Rectal Hygienics is a four piece band from Chicago, Illinois who formed in the fall of 2012. Rectal Hygienics play a blown-out, dirty, and raw style of punk and noise rock. Rectal Hygienics have a killer Am-Rep noise rock vibe, which automatically earns bonus points for the band and musically, Rectal Hygienics can be said to be influenced by bands such as Drunks With Guns, Flipper, Melvins, Brainbombs and more current bands such as Walls, Twin Stumps, and Drunkdriver. "Ultimate Purity" is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Permanent Records. "Ultimate Purity" features eight tracks of sludgy, raw, and dirty as fuck sounding punk and noise rock. Overall, Rectal Hygienics have absolutely nailed it on their latest album. BEIGE EAGLE BOYS "You're Gonna Get Yours" LP 16€
(Reptilian Records)
Recalling the blown out syrupy sweet distortion of the Cherubs and the upper Midwest scuzz of the Bastards and Hammerhead, or while we're at it, all the finest cherry picked grime from AmRep, Touch & Go and Trance Syndicate, Detroit's Beige Eagle Boys throw the rock gears into a mid nineties noise rock reverse, gargling nuts and bolts and gravel and then flossing with guitar strings left over in Tom Hazelmyer's garage. But this is not a tribute to a dead scene. This is the face of noise rock now: even more raw, hardcore, weird, and loud. On "You're Gonna Get Yours", the trio's debut album, they blast out a quick and potent rust belt racket with all three gents hollering over top. Every studio meter red-lined, every tube amp threatened with exhaustion, all three larynxes threatened with whatever the hell happens to larynxes after this kind of abuse. Ten songs done the right kind of wrong way, and all of it iced off with a distorted, up the ass cover of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry". Blue vinyl in full colour sleeve with insert and digital download coupon. Blue vinyl is limited to 400 copies out of 500 copies in total.

BUZZOV*EN "Useless / Never Again" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
In 1996, Buzzov·en released its first real single since previous 7"s were EPs. The band was no more in the wake of its Roadrunner contract and things were beginning to turn bad. But this single is great, with "Never Again" being their most Black Sabbath track to date and "Useless" a sort of sludgy Stooges song that is now a sort of classic. There was a new version of this song on the "At a Loss" LP released 2 years later. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with lyrics insert. Limited edition of 1000 copies.

THE CLOTH "s/t" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
We're not sure what environmental contaminant is responsible for the recent uptick in ass whomping Philly noise rock, but we're into it, and The Cloth is our newest trophy wife. On this debut four song EP, the hard-gigging, beer-shotgunning trio lay down a dirty, feedback drenched urgency not unlike Pg.99, Karp, or the terrifying sonic autism of Hammerhead. Mega distorted guitar chords collapse onto one another, and over that, vocals that sound as threatened as they are threatening. Jerky, angular rhythms slide into nasty Eyehategod groove swamps. The pacing is relentless, and with this much sonic storm and stress, it's hard not to draw favorable and mutual comparisons with local brethren Faking. White or green vinyl in letterpressed black/silver fold out sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited to 500 copies in total.

CUTTHROATS 9 "You Should Be Dead" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
The Cutthroats 9 was a band formed by Chris Spencer of Unsane and Celan, when he moved to California after Unsane went on hiatus in 2000. This 7" was the band's first recording, released in 1999. Every bit of Unsane's vein-bulging violence is present in The Cutthroats 9 albeit with a slightly groovier approach. Pay no mind to this release being over 10 years old, it still beats the shit out of anything in your record collection. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 1000 copies.

FAKING "Vices" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
Ruthless and machine stamped from the same kind of sonic foundry that used to produce menacing flyover state noise rock, Philly's Faking certainly ain't faking it here on their debut 7". The A and B sides are an alloy of the rudest abrasive mathy angularity found in the nineties Amrep and Touch & Go camps, harkening back to an era of uncorrupted sonic battery. And Faking does it without the self-conscious sneer of retro-scene boot-licking – these men know the world of which they speak, this trio having been assembled out of the wreckage of seminal PA noise rock bands Günna Vahm and Midiron Blast Shaft. The crunchy buzz saw riffs hammer down with calculated repetition and bleed into reverb drenched seasick leads. The vocals invoke threat, like a crime scene report read aloud long after an urgent warning wasn't received. Thunderous rolling bass. Truly massive drums. The right kind of nastiness for the wrong kind of people. Blue or green marble vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited to 500 copies in total.

PSYCHIC TEENS "Face / All" 7"
(Reptilian Records)
This Philadelphia wrecking crew crashes its way into your brain with throbbing bass and herky-jerky, post-punk guitars, riding a wave of gothy vibes straight to a noise-rock endpoint. A creepy-crawly, rubbed-raw treat for fans of Pissed Jeans, Sacred Bones and general discomfort. Purple vinyl in full colour sleeve with obi strip and digital download coupon. Purple vinyl limited to 200 copies out of 500 copies in total.

BIG BUSINESS "Battlefields Forever" LP 18€
(Gold Metal Records/Solar Flare Records)
Big Business started as a two piece band composed of Jared Warren of Karp and The Tight Bros from Way Back When, and Coady Willis of Murder City Devils. Their sound has been characterized as a bombastic and frantic low end attack, marked by Warren's signature vocal delivery. The band released its first album, "Head for the Shallow" in 2005. In late 2006, after relocating to Los Angeles, Jared and Coady both became members of The Melvins, first appearing on "(A) Senile Animal". The tour, titled "the Double-Drumming Rock for Peace tour", featured Warren and Willis playing a set as Big Business before being joined by Crover and Osborne for a set as The Melvins. Two guys grinding out beefy hardcore as loud and heavy as humanly possible. Big Guy Jared Warren wrestles bass and vocals, Little Guy Coady Willis mans the drums and scant backing vocals. And how they do beat the crap out of their instruments! Big Business play the kind of music that sounds like steamroller bass rumble dump truck crashing into Slayer having sex with CCR… on acid. 4 years later - Big Business are back with their 4th album - "Battlefields Forever", their finest album to date. European pressing on Solar Flare Records. Clear vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 350 copies.

FASHION WEEK "Prêt-à-Porter" LP 15€
(Solar Flare Records)
Fashion Week is an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Joshua Lozano and bassist Oscar Rodriguez in Brooklyn, New York in 1987. Fashion Week went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Carl Eklof, who joined the band in 1990, after the disbanding of DC hardcore legends Shout. In the late 1980s Fashion Week established itself as part of the New York noise scene, releasing its first album "Clorox" for the independent record label Under Pop in 1989. The band eventually came to develop a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often between pummeling verses and loud, catchy choruses. After signing to major label David Muffin Records, Fashion Week found unexpected success with "Smells like Old Spice", the first single from the band's second album "Fuhgeddaboudit" (1991). Fashion Week's sudden success widely popularized alternative rock as a whole, and as the band's frontman Lozano found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation", with Fashion Week being considered the "flagship band" of Generation X. Fashion Week's third studio album "In Uterus" (1993), challenged the group's audience, featuring an abrasive, less-mainstream sound. Fashion Week's brief run ended following the death of Josh Lozano in 1994, but various posthumous releases have been issued since, overseen by Rodriguez, Eklof, and Lozano's widow Catherine Lust. Since its debut, the band has sold over 25 million albums in the United States alone, and over 50 million worldwide. Eklof went on to form the highly acclaimed Food Fighters, and Rodriguez has pursued a career in politics, and wedding crashing. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve with digital download coupon. Limited edition of 300 copies.

FOOT HAIR "s/t" LP 17€
(Box Records)
Box Records presents the debut album by Newcastle, UK based noise mongers Foot Hair. Their self-titled debut album reduces sonics from the likes of Brainbombs and Upsidedown Cross into an unforgiving mash of dirge. It's simple, raw and extremely powerful stuff. Rarely do bands manage to create such a cacophony of hedonistic terror whilst simultaneously projecting a sense of abject absolute apathy and nihilism. Foul, frightening and completely cathartic – not to be missed! An absolute must for fans of: Brainbombs, Upsidedown Cross, Kilslug, Drunks With Guns etc. Black vinyl in full colour sleeve. Limited edition of 250 copies.

QUTTINIRPAAQ "Dead September" LP 17€
(Rural Isolation Project)
Austin noise-punks Quttinirpaaq follow both of their 2013 LPs on Rural Isolation Project with a third one. This is bleeding-noise industrial electronic rock, with sheets of noisy guitar pushing far beyond "Psychocandy" levels of harshness. There's usually a drum machine bashing away, and vocals are distorted far beyond any semblance of comprehensibility. It sounds like punk rock thrown violently into a paper shredder with no fucks given. White vinyl in full colour sleeve with full colour insert. Limited edition of 300 copies.

GREAT FALLS "Accidents Grotesque" LP 16€
(Hell Comes Home)
There are three certainties in this fucked up world: Death, taxes and Great Falls. "Accidents Grotesque" – the follow-up to the Seattle trio's well-regarded 2011 full-length "Fontanelle" – is a beacon of truth for the godless masses, a dizzying blend of mathematical hardcore and grind in the vein of Narrows and KEN Mode. Guitarist/vocalist Demian Johnston and bassist Shane Mehling are tight bros from way back when and spent the better part of the last decade peddling noise in Playing Enemy and Hemingway; virtuosic drummer Phil Petrocelli (ex-Jesu) has been a fixture in Great Falls since "Fontanelle" came out. Demian and Shane's old drum machine is now in a landfill. All three of the members of Great Falls are creative professionals, so it follows that "Accidents Grotesque" acts like giant canvas for the trio's experiments with positive/negative space and finely-etched arrangements. The intensity of Great Falls' frenetic live performances is echoed on this intense 37+ minute outpouring, the band's most fully-realized recording yet. "Accidents Grotesque" is, in turns, angular and alienating, heart-wrenching and crestfallen. This album does a deep dive to find beauty in ugliness. This is no mean feat, but Great Falls is very much up to the challenge. Black vinyl in gatefold sleeve with digital download coupon.

VINYYLIT:

METZ "II" LP 20€
(Sub Pop)
“I look at it like this,” METZ frontman Alex Edkins says. “You start a band, just as something to do, because music’s what makes you tick, the thing you dream about and think about and that’s it. You never think that you’ll be able to do it all the time. But then, for some inexplicable reason, people actually listen and latch on and the band begins to take on new meaning. All of a sudden there are expectations and pressure, real or imagined, to change who you are. It was important to us, when making this record, not to give in to that pressure.” What happens when a seemingly irresistible force meets an immovable object is a serviceable metaphor for the music METZ creates, both live and on record. Now behold "II", the concussive new full-length from what is arguably North America’s finest touring rock band. Written and recorded in 2014, after two years of constant touring behind their rightly adored self-titled debut, "II" is METZ at their most true to form—as pure an expression of what they do as can currently be committed to tape. The guitars are titanic, the drums ill-tempered, the vocals chilling, and the volume worrisome. Though they incorporated new instruments, (baritone guitar, tape loops, piano, synth, found sounds) and stretched out the arrangements, they still managed to “stay true to what made us tick in the first place: that immediacy,” Edkins calls it. “If it punches you in the gut.” Black vinyl in gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeve, poster and digital download coupon.

YOUNG WIDOWS "Easy Pain" LP 20€
(Temporary Residence)
Young Widows are a creatively restless bunch. "Easy Pain" is easily their densest, most disturbingly addictive record yet. The guitars are enormous, the drums are pummeling, and the trademark gut-churning bass is more jaw-dropping than ever. Evan Patterson's lyrics and vocal delivery are more expressive and dynamic, and the production is absolutely massive. Disregarding all boundaries and pushing forward with a masterful command of post-punk, noise rock, pseudo industrial, experimental doom, and goth, Young Widows emit the intimidating force of a 10-piece with the heart and soul of a classic power trio. Few artists can simultaneously summarize their entire recorded career while also undeniably expanding upon it. Young Widows have done exactly that, and have earned their reputation as a truly peerless group. In their constant pursuit of the intersection of beauty and ugliness, "Easy Pain" is unquestionably their most fully realized album to date. Black vinyl in full metallic colour sleeve with digital download coupon including 2 bonus tracks.
