Pug Life worked on L`Annee Perrotique during the time of Covid-19 pandemic. The tracks were recorded separately in accordance with the social distancing protocol. Having lost the opportunity of playing together, it was no longer an option to improvise in real-time. This led to introducing compositional elements, new to our joint venture, which has now been on-going for roughly ten years. In result, this is Pug Life.

Sunken is the very occasional Aotearoa/New Zealand duo of Antony Milton and Stefan Neville. Their shared love of reed organs and being underwater has produced four albums since 2004. "The Four Eyed" is from a nearly forgotten session in Waterview, Auckland in 2014. In preparation for a live performance at The Audio Foundation's "Nowhere" festival, the session was recorded live to 2 track tape machine with the reed organs being augmented by electronics, tapes, voice, intercoms & assorted other keyboards. The shadows of a giant motorway and tunnel construction (now completed) at the end of the street inspired lyrical content as did their friend Diana Mahoney.

Sunkenin kasetti ja Loren Chassen CD myyty loppuun. Tetuzi Akiyama & Tom Greenwoodia sekä Pug Lifea vielä hieman jäljellä. Enempää julkaisuja ei tänä vuonna tule, mutta kova kolmen satsi uusia CD:itä sitten tammikuussa. Kotimaista x2 sekä yksi ulkomainen projekti. Levyjä voi tilata tuolta Bandcampin kautta.

"Jan-Erik Juhani Viitakoski sävelsi minimalistisen esikoisteoksensa Blue Exhibition kuusivuotiaana, yhden yön kuluessa isänsä Hella von Viitakosken taiteilijakodin Villa Berlinin yhteyteen rakennetussa kotistudiossa. Nuorempi Viitakoski kertoi Helsingin Sanomien haastattelussa teoksensa syntyneen autiossa taidemuseossa, jossa oli viettänyt öitään. Kuvailut museosta ja sen sinisistä teoksista olivat yksityiskohtaisia ja eläviä, ja lehden toimitukseen satelikin tiedusteluita museon sijainnista sekä sen kiehtovasta näyttelystä. Selvitystyö johti erikoiseen lopputulokseen: kyseistä taidemuseota tai sinistä näyttelyä ei ollut olemassakaan. Erilaiset erikoisasiantuntijat lapsipsykologeista unitutkijoihin tutustuivat tapaukseen, johon ei saatu koskaan lopullista selvyyttä tai yksimielisyyttä. Jan-Erik Juhani Viitakoski katosi peruskoulun jälkeen. Hänet julistettiin kuolleeksi vuosikymmen myöhemmin. Kolmekymmentä vuotta katoamisestaan hän kuitenkin ilmestyi sinisellä polkupyörällä kotikaupunkiinsa. Hänen elämänvaiheistaan poissaolon ajalta ei ole tietoa. Nykyisin Jan-Erik Juhani Viitakoski asuu Viitakoskisäätiön omistamassa sukukartanossa ja hänen kerrotaan palanneen minimalismin ja nykytaiteen pariin."

Channel Zero introduces an interesting take on the long running experimental band Jackie O Motherfucker with its lengthy ritualistic drone loops and Eva Saelens' (Inca Ore) revolutionary roars. This unreleased live recording from 2006 proves that the oh-so-fluid project has always had an ear for true sonic disturbance and devout expanding of the consciousness.

Dark Country is the first collaboration between Stockholm-based experimental musicians Jon Collin and Niclas Anderstedt Lindgren. On Dark Country you have the familiar echoes from Collin`s post-bluesy attack on strings, but this time accompanied with a considerable amount of speaker crackle and Lindgren`s clever yet reticent sound sculpting. All the sounds you`ll hear on Dark Country are created by live guitar improvisations and electronic processing thereof.

Synth-heavy and rhythmically sliced with sharp electronic percussion, Antony Milton`s "Off-White" exhibits no shyness in its ethos. With one foot shamelessly planted in a sentimental nostalgia for 1980's cry-yourself-to-sleep pop music and the other firmly remaining shin deep in the New Zealand underground "Off-White" raises its arms in salute to brainy romantics everywhere. Needless to say there are also extended sections of synapse distorting guitar and ecstatic drones aplenty as usually is the case when it comes down to the veteran New Zealand experimentalist.

Black Bevy is the name of the newly formed intercontinental collaboration between experimental musician Antony Milton (Sunken, Claypipe) and American visual/sound artist Thaniel Ion Lee. Their creation, 8300 Miles, is a six track long opus full of hefty and mind-bending drone, the most carefully crafted ambience and is by and large an very precise documentation of the two distinctive soundmakers working together.
